MELLOW OUT MOCKTAIL
Ingredients
Instructions
- Fill a 20 ounce glass (or 16 ounce glass) ¾ full with ice cubes. Add apple cider vinegar, tart cherry juice, and prebiotic lime soda, and stir well to combine.
- Squeeze the juice from 1 wedge of lime into the drink, and give it a quick stir. Serve immediately, and enjoy!
Notes
- I prefer the taste of Trader Joe’s 100% red tart cherry juice, as it's unfiltered and more cost effective than the other brands.
- Both Poppi and Olipop are great brands for prebiotic sodas with no added sugars. They are great for gut health and add a wonderful flavor to this mocktail. For a stronger cherry flavor, cherry limeade soda is delicious in this cocktail. If you want more of a contrast in flavor, then go with the lemon lime soda.
- Makes one serving (8.05 ounces without ice).

A must try Mocktail recipe!
This must try Mellow Out Mocktail recipe is deliciously tart and sweet, and is so tasty that you will want to make it again and again! This relaxing non alcoholic drink recipe contains tart cherry juice, fresh lime juice, apple cider vinegar, and prebiotic soda. This may sound like an odd combination, but this medley of ingredients produces the most delicious mocktail. It almost tastes like a Sour Patch candy without the extreme pucker!
The ingredients in this sleepytime mocktail not only reduce muscle soreness and improve sleep quality, but they are great for gut health. The sleepytime mocktail has become a viral sensation, so I created my own version that is a little more flavorful, but just as easy.
Let’s break it down and talk about some of the health benefits of each ingredient.
Red tart cherry juice is brimming with antioxidants and a burst of tangy goodness that'll not only delight your taste buds, but it has so many health benefits. It’s rich in antioxidants such as anthocyanins and quercetin, and has potent anti-inflammatory properties which help reduce inflammation, muscle soreness, exercise recovery, and joint pain. It also helps promote a healthy gut microbiome. The reason why this drink is called a sleepytime mocktail is that tart cherry juice is a natural source of melatonin, and has been known to improve sleep quality and duration.
Prebiotic sodas are not your typical unhealthy sodas filled with sugars, chemicals, or dangerous sugar substitutes. Prebiotic and probiotic sodas like Poppi cherry limeade or Olipop lemon lime are gut-healthy sodas made with fiber, prebiotics, and botanicals that can actually support your gut health by nurturing a healthy gut microbiome and digestive system.
Fresh lime juice is rich in vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant that helps boost the immune system. Lime juice also promotes better digestion, and may help alleviate indigestion and bloating.
Unfiltered apple cider vinegar has been used for centuries to help improve digestion, help regulate blood sugar, reduce acid reflux, and for its antimicrobial properties. Its primary contribution to this mocktail recipe is to alleviate indigestion and bloating, and improve gut health.
How do you ensure the best results from this recipe?
My 5 tips to making a delicious Mellow Out Mocktail:
For best flavor and results, it’s important to use the brands and ingredients I recommend in this recipe.
Use 100% red tart cherry juice (Trader Joe’s or Cherry Bay). Blended juices or regular cherry juice will not have the same flavor or healthy impact. I suggest trying Trader Joe’s brand, as it’s cost effective and more importantly, it's unfiltered and very tasty!
For the prebiotic and probiotic soda, use either Poppi cherry limeade or Olipop lemon lime. They may be a little expensive, but they have great flavor and ingredients.
Bragg organic unfiltered apple cider vinegar with the Mother is another important ingredient that you do not want to substitute. It’s good for you and really gives it that punch of tartness. Do not use filtered apple cider vinegar for this recipe, as it won’t have the health benefits or flavor.
Use fresh squeezed lime juice, not bottled.
