PASSION TEA COCKTAIL
Ingredients
Instructions
- In a large measuring cup, add 1 TAZO passion tea bag and pour 2 cups of boiling water over the tea bag (see Notes section). After steeping for 15-20 minutes, discard the tea bag and cool completely on the counter or in the fridge.
- With a 2 in 1 Zester, peel off 2 long strips from an orange to use as a garnish for each glass. Cut orange in half and squeeze 1 ounce of juice, using a small juicer or a reamer.
- In another large measuring cup, add 2 ounces of cooled Passion tea, Gin, orange juice, and agave. Mix until the agave is dissolved and combined.
- Serve on the rocks, as a martini, or make ahead when entertaining for a crowd (see Notes section for make ahead and serving option details).
Notes
- Any leftover tea can be used for more cocktails or a nice non-alcoholic iced tea. For a much stronger Passion tea flavor, steep one tea bag in only 1 cup boiling water. For a unique spin on this cocktail, add a fresh basil leaf to the shaker and garnish with a fresh basil leaf.
- Chill your martini glasses in the fridge for at least 20 minutes before serving.
- Garnishes are optional, but they make all the difference in creating a festive vibe. For an extra fancy presentation, wet half the rim of a chilled martini glass, then dip the wet rim into colored cocktail sugar crystals and tap glass to shake off any excess sugar.
- Make Ahead: Can be made ahead of time and served on the rocks for easy entertaining cocktails.
- Cocktails for Two: Cover cocktail mixture (in measuring cup) with plastic wrap and refrigerate until completely chilled. When ready to serve, stir cocktail mixture well, pour into ice filled cocktail glasses, and garnish with orange spirals.
- Martinis for Two: Fill a large cocktail shaker half full with ice cubes. Remove cocktail mixture from the fridge, stir well, and pour into a cocktail shaker until it's ⅔ full. Cover and shake vigorously. Strain into chilled martini glasses and garnish with an orange spiral.
- Entertaining for a crowd? Add all cocktail ingredients to a large pitcher and stir to combine. Cover pitcher with plastic wrap and refrigerate until completely chilled. When guests arrive, stir cocktail mixture well, pour into ice filled cocktail glasses, and garnish with orange spirals.

Make this beautifully balanced cocktail as a martini or on the rocks!
This cocktail sounds delicate, but don’t be fooled - it is definitely a gin cocktail. It’s perfect before your meal or with dinner. It also goes well with Thai food, or any food for that matter! Our Passion Tea Cocktail can also be made ahead and is great for entertaining small or large crowds, and depending on the occasion, we recommend serving it to someone you are passionate about!
Last month, we decided we wanted to do some outdoor entertaining and invited a couple of guests over. I settled on making a Thai inspired dish and was struggling to figure out a signature cocktail that would pair well with the flavors of our Halibut with Thai-Style Curry Broth.
Thai cuisine has very aromatic and spicy qualities, which is sometimes difficult to pair with the right drink. A few months ago, Leigh said she wanted to develop some tea cocktails. This inspired me to focus on a tea based libation for my dinner. In researching beverages that go well with Thai food, many of them were either sweet and fruity cocktails, or very sweet teas...and of course, there was beer (none of which I thought my guests would enjoy). Then the idea came to me...use an herbal tea with passion flower or passion fruit flavors!
So we went to work in developing this cocktail. This passion tea cocktail is a well balanced apéritif that has lovely floral and fruity notes. I love that it’s not too sweet, but goes down so smoothly. The secret is to use fresh ingredients and good quality gin. However, the most important tip is to steep the tea long enough to make the passion fruit flavor and passion flower qualities from the tea stand out in the cocktail. We hope you enjoy our creation.
