SILKY WHIPPED FETA DIP
Ingredients
Instructions
- Drain feta cheese block. Break up into smaller pieces, and add to a large food processor (11 cup). Then add cream cheese, yogurt, olive oil, lemon zest and juice, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Pulse about 15 times to break up ingredients, then process continuously for about 2-3 minutes until silky smooth (scrape down the bowl halfway - see Note #3).
- Transfer to a serving dish. Just before serving, garnish with any of the optional garnishes, and enjoy with pita bread, pita chips, fresh naan, toasted baguette, or fresh veggies!
Notes
- All dairy products used in this recipe should be cold from the fridge.
- This recipe requires good quality block feta cheese, block cream cheese, and Greek yogurt.
- Do not use store bought crumbled feta cheese, as they often use stabilizers to prevent them from sticking.
- Use a very dense plain Greek yogurt (Fage 5% Greek yogurt works best in this recipe). Many other Greek yogurt brands are very watery and will make your dip too thin and liquidy.
- Whipped cream cheese will not work either, as it already has too much air whipped into it.
- If it’s too thick and not creamy enough, add another ½ tablespoon of fresh lemon juice and process. Do not over process the whipped feta. You want to make sure it’s smooth and creamy, and not grainy. You will be able to tell how it’s coming together when you scrape the bowl halfway through the process. Just keep a close eye on the processor during the last 1-2 minutes of processing.
- Make ahead and store refrigerated in an airtight glass container for up to 3 days. Whipped feta will become more solid when refrigerated.
- Makes 8 servings.

How do you ensure the best results from this recipe?
My 5 tips to making Silky Whipped Feta Dip:
Make sure all your ingredients are cold.
Using a food processor yields a smoother dip. If you don’t have a food processor, a high speed blender will work, but it somehow doesn’t produce as smooth a dip.
Scrape down the processor after 2 minutes to ensure everything is incorporated and has the same smoothness at the end.
When you scrape down the bowl at the 2 minute mark, check the consistency. Don’t over process the dip. If it’s too thick, you can add another ½ tablespoon of fresh squeezed lemon juice during the last minute.
If the consistency is two smooth, just transfer it to a serving bowl, swirl the top, cover, and refrigerate. It will thicken up when refrigerated. You can store it in the refrigerator (ungarnished) for up to 3 days, if needed.
It’s time to customize and Pimp My Recipe.
Pimp My Recipe:
Make it Extra Spicy: Add ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes with all the other ingredients and process as directed. Garnish with more red pepper flakes and hot honey.
Make it Milder: If you prefer a more subtle feta cheese flavor, just use 6 ounces of cream cheese instead of 4 ounces. If you don’t like garlic, just omit it from the recipe.
Make it Even More Lemony: Add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon zest to the recipe. If you want even more lemony flavor, try 1 ½ tablespoons of lemon zest.

Footnote: Remember to use cold ingredients. This will allow you to serve it immediately after processing it. Otherwise, you’ll have to refrigerate it to thicken it up.
Adapted from the Whipped Feta Dip Recipe by natashaskitchen.com. I added a bit more protein to this dip by replacing the sour cream with Greek yogurt, then added some seasoning. To give it that lemony flavor, I added more lemon zest, but reduced the lemon juice to avoid making it watery.
