STRAWBERRY BANANA BEET PROTEIN SMOOTHIE
Bright, creamy, and naturally sweet, this Strawberry Banana Beet Protein Smoothie packs 33g of protein with no protein powder — thanks to Greek yogurt and collagen peptides. A delicious high-protein smoothie made with wholesome ingredients with the most vibrant color.
Ingredients
Instructions
- Core and halve strawberries and banana, place in separate Ziploc freezer bags, and freeze overnight.
- To a high speed blender cup (see Note #3), add ice cubes, strawberries, banana, beet, yogurt, Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides, cinnamon, agave, and water.
- Cover, secure lid, and blend until smooth (about 60 seconds). Pour into a tall 18 ounce glass, serve immediately, and enjoy!
Notes
- You can use store-bought frozen strawberries or bananas, but I find freezing fresh strawberries and/or bananas the night before (or longer) yields a much better strawberry flavor.
- This is the perfect recipe if you have any leftover roasted beets. To find out an easy way to roast whole beets, just watch the how to video on my TIP #33 - How to Roast Beets (Whole) - Best Method. They can be made ahead of time, and stored in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Use a high speed blender to create a lusciously thick smoothie. Both the NutriBullet high speed blender, and the Vitamix high-speed blender work extremely well for this recipe.
- Makes one 18 ounce serving as a meal replacement (or two 9 ounce servings).

How to Make this Surprisingly Delicious Strawberry Banana Beet Protein Smoothie!
Blog Comments & Tips
Can’t beat the great flavor & health benefits of this Strawberry Banana Beet Protein Smoothie!
This vibrant Strawberry Banana Beet Protein Smoothie is a delicious way to add more wholesome, nutrient-rich ingredients to your day. With 33 grams of protein and no protein powder, this creamy smoothie combines sweet strawberries and banana with roasted beet, nonfat Greek yogurt, Vital Proteins collagen peptides, Ceylon cinnamon, and a touch of agave syrup.
Health Benefits of this Nutrient-Packed, High Protein Smoothie
High-Protein: With 33 grams of protein, this smoothie can make a satisfying meal replacement for one or be divided into two 9-ounce smoothies for a lighter breakfast or snack. Nonfat Greek yogurt provides protein along with calcium, while collagen peptides add additional protein to help make this smoothie especially filling.
Vitamins & Antioxidants: Strawberries provide vitamin C and antioxidant compounds, while the banana contributes potassium, carbohydrates, and natural sweetness. The roasted beet gives this smoothie its gorgeous vibrant color and provides folate, potassium, and naturally occurring dietary nitrates. Because the beet is roasted, it adds an earthy sweetness to this smoothie.
A sprinkle of Ceylon cinnamon adds warm, naturally sweet flavor, while a small amount of agave syrup enhances the fruit without overpowering it. Together, these simple ingredients create a creamy, naturally colorful high-protein strawberry banana smoothie that tastes as good as it looks.
Whether you enjoy it as a quick breakfast, post-workout smoothie, or convenient meal replacement, this Strawberry Banana Beet Protein Smoothie is an easy and delicious way to combine fruit, vegetables, and plenty of protein in one glass.
How do you ensure the best results from this recipe?
My 5 tips for making the Best Strawberry Banana Beet Protein Smoothie:
Use organic produce. Freeze your own organic strawberries to retain the best flavor. The night before (or longer) you make this smoothie, hull the strawberries and halve them, place in a freezer bag, and freeze overnight.
Use a roasted beet. Fresh beets have great nutrition, but would have a strong earthy flavor that would not taste great in this smoothie. Roasting brings out the beet’s natural sweetness and creates a smoother, more mellow flavor than using raw beet. This is the perfect recipe to make when trying to finish up any leftover roasted beets.
Use a very ripe banana (and freeze it overnight). A ripe banana adds natural sweetness and creamy texture, helping balance the earthy flavor of the beet.
Use Ceylon cinnamon. Its delicate, naturally sweet flavor complements the strawberries, banana, and roasted beet without overpowering the smoothie.
Adjust the sweetness to taste. Start with a small amount of agave syrup, then taste after blending. Depending on the ripeness of your banana and sweetness of your strawberries, you may need less additional sweetener.
It’s time to customize and Pimp My Recipe.
Pimp My Recipe:
Make it Without a Roasted Beet: It’s simple — just omit the roasted beet. You’ll end up with a sweet and delicious Strawberry and Banana Smoothie!
Make it Vegetarian: Swap out the Vital Proteins collagen peptides with a vegan collagen. I recommend these three options for vegan collagen (in order of reviews, taste, and dissolvability): VEDGE Vegan Collagen Powder - Unflavored (with 10 grams of protein), or PlantFusion Vegan Collagen Powder - Unflavored (with 18 grams of protein), or Sunwarrior Vegan Collagen Building Peptides with Biotin - Unflavored (with 14 grams of protein).
